Spend a day exploring the wineries and vineyards of Saint-Emilion and Médoc in Bordeaux on a guided wine tasting trip. Sample wines at three wineries and tour the historic town of Saint-Emilion. Savor local specialties during a picnic at a Château (winery).
Depart from the city center of Bordeaux to discover the most beautiful vineyards of both banks. To start, visit Saint-Emilion with your guide. Tour the village, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and discover its historical monuments.
Saint-Émilion is a historic medieval village located in the heart of a renowned vineyard in the Bordeaux region of France. Its history dates back to the 8th century with the arrival of the Breton monk Émilien, who settled in a cave and began to evangelize the population. The village developed around his hermitage and became an important pilgrimage site.
In 1999, the “Jurisdiction of Saint-Émilion,” which includes the village and its surrounding vineyards, was inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site as a “cultural landscape.” This was a world first for a vineyard landscape.
Later on your journey to Saint-Emilion and Médoc, visit a Château (winery) and enjoy a tasting of 3 wines while learning about Saint-Émilion. During your tasting, your guide will prepare the picnic served at a lovely table during which you can enjoy a glass of wine from the Château.
Enjoy food prepared by an artisanal and traditional Bordeaux caterer who offers fresh, local, and tasty products as well as Basque country charcuterie and cheese.
In the beginning of the afternoon and after an-hour drive to go to the left bank, enjoy a visit and a tasting of 3 wines in a family running winery from the famous Médoc area (especially the Margaux appellation). Then, stop by the famous Château Margaux and take photos before heading to a third winery (classified in 1855, the Napoleon classification) where a commented wine tasting is waiting for you. Finish your tour with a new perspective on the art of winemaking.

June 9, 2025 at 6:34 amThis was an exceptional day trip from Bordeaux. Our driver/guide was interesting, funny and very knowledgeable. We toured the village of Saint Emilion (very pretty) and then visited 3 wineries where a vitner took us on a tour of their facility. At each one, we learned a little bit more about the wine, the vineyards and the processes used to make exceptional wine. The included picnic lunch was delicious which was accompanied by a shared bottle of wine. The only drawback was the inability to hear the guide when sitting in the back rows of the van. He had lots to say and sadly only the first row was able to hear him. We would suggest that some form of amplification is used in the van so that everyone has a chance to hear the discussion.
