The Tour
During this Bordeaux tour, you’ll visit two wineries, chateau la Croizille and chateau Tour Baladoz, with distinct winemaking approaches. First, explore chateau Tour Baladoz, a traditional winery with an authentic cellar and classic Saint-Émilion architecture, where wine is crafted in the region’s traditional style.
Château Tour Baladoz produces wines under the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru AOC. Importantly, it was officially classified as a Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé in the 2022 Saint-Émilion classification, recognizing its consistent quality and elegance over decades. This is a significant achievement and places it among the top tier of Saint-Émilion estates.

The estate is an ancient one, with winemaking roots dating back to 1830. Unlike the modern architectural approach of its sister property Château La Croizille, Tour Baladoz represents a more traditional Bordeaux style, both in its winemaking and its charming classic cellars. This offers a nice contrast and complement to the family’s overall vision. The winemaking at Tour Baladoz employs traditional methods with a focus on respecting the fruit and terroir.

Next, discover a modern winery that uses cutting-edge technology to innovate and refine the winemaking process, creating a contemporary style of wine. Château La Croizille is a distinctive and highly-regarded wine estate located in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation of Bordeaux, France. It’s particularly known for its blend of historical roots with a striking modern approach to winemaking and architecture. Château La Croizille is situated on the Right Bank of Bordeaux, specifically in the commune of Saint-Laurent-des-Combes, within the renowned Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation. It’s just a short distance from the famous medieval village of Saint-Émilion. Its vineyards are on a hill with a superb panoramic view, facing east/southeast
La Croizille has focused on striking and technologically advanced new cellar, which was inaugurated in 2012. This modern facility allows for gravity-fed winemaking and precise control over the vinification process, aiming to extract the best from the grapes while maintaining their unique personality. The design of the new chai is inspired by the clay and limestone terroir.
You’ll learn about each stage of winemaking, from the vines to the aging process. The tour concludes with a guided tasting of three Bordeaux wines, including Saint-Émilion Grand Cru, along with an introduction to wine-tasting techniques.

10 months agoReally informative visit and tour guide was obviously passionate about the subject. You get to see the traditional and more modern approach to wine making. Went with three loads of varying ages and they also enjoyed. One of the few vineyards that we found that welcomed children. With a visit. Oh and the wine is great also!!

a year agoBeautiful winery and experience with our guide Quentin in an English speaking tour. He is passionate and well conversant in answering all questions raised. Quentin also gave good recommendations on wine and food choices available on the establishment. Overall a great experience and no regret for staying back for lunch to enjoy the magnificent view, tasty food and drinks. Location: 5min uber ride from Saint Emilion village.

a year agoI had the most incredible afternoon at Château Croizille! It was breathtaking scenery, amazing education about the wine making process. I loved seeing every stage. There is so much precision and passion that goes into it. It makes the tasting part even better when you understand the work that has formed the flavours. We loved it and would recommend to everyone.

a year agoLet me start by saying marvellous tour and highly recommended. Location: 9/10 the winery/winyard can be easily located on map and easy to drive to if you are by car. Staff: 10/10-very friendly and knowledgeable staff. They have keen eye for details, walk you through each and every step of wine making along with history in amazing detail. Experience: 10/10, it’s a curated experience and you’ll come out learning something new despite you think “i know alot about wine”. There is remarkable difference between visiting an actual vineyard vs visiting something commercial which is just sake of experience. Here, you visit and feel every step of the process, they walk you though every step, from impact of soil, pesticides, climate on the grapes to how all this actually translates to the taste of wine you drink so casually. It’s a very fine combination of art and science..no wonder French people are so attached to it. They have two state of art process (traditional with all the barrel fermentation & modern with machines) and you can visit both. The dégustations(wine tasting) is a very fine experience here, you get to taste their flagship grand cru wines to the newly crafted (and none less than the authentic Provence ones) JM Rose. At the end of tour, you have a shop where you can buy their wines and souvenirs. I ended up buying lot of their Rose (which is a shame because they have finer products in red wine like grand cru and grand cru classic)but « heart wants what it wants » I loved their collection and highly recommend it to all those who want to have an authentic wine tasting experience and learn a thing or two about how your favourite drink is made.
