The Tour
Experience the ultimate French lifestyle with a premier Bordeaux Saint-Emilion day tour with wine tasting and lunch, departing from the vibrant city center of Bordeaux. This full-day excursion is meticulously crafted for those who want to immerse themselves in the history, architecture, and world-class viticulture of the Right Bank. Traveling in a small group limited to just eight participants ensures an intimate and personalized experience, allowing you to engage deeply with your expert guide and the passionate winemakers you will meet along the way.

Your Bordeaux journey begins with a scenic drive through the rolling hills of the Dordogne valley, where the landscape is dotted with prestigious estates and ancient stone villages. The first stop is a carefully selected château where you will begin your education in Bordeaux wines. You will tour the technical facilities, from the traditional vat rooms to the atmospheric aging cellars, and conclude with a tutored tasting of the estate’s signature reds. At noon, the experience reaches its culinary peak with a typical French picnic lunch served at the château. Surrounded by lush vineyards, you will indulge in an artisanal meal featuring local products presented in jars, complemented by Basque country charcuterie, regional cheeses, and, of course, a glass of the property’s own wine.
The afternoon continues with visits to two additional wineries, providing a comprehensive overview of the diversity within the Saint-Émilion and Pomerol appellations. You will have the opportunity to visit a prestigious Classified Growth estate as well as a more intimate family-run property. Each visit includes a commented tasting, bringing your total for the day to approximately eight different wines. These sessions are designed to help you distinguish the nuances of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, the dominant grape varieties of the region, and to understand the meticulous winemaking techniques used to create such globally recognized labels.
Beyond the vineyards, this Saint-Emilion day tour with wine tasting and lunch includes a deep dive into the region’s heritage. You will enjoy a guided walking tour of the medieval village of Saint-Émilion, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Your guide will lead you through the steep, narrow cobblestone streets, sharing the secrets of the village’s 5th-century origins and its role as the birthplace of Bordeaux viticulture. You will have time to admire the Romanesque churches and ruins before concluding your day with a final wine discovery session in the heart of the village. By the time you return to Bordeaux in your comfortable, air-conditioned minivan, you will have gained a new perspective on the art of French winemaking and the enduring charm of the Saint-Émilion region.

July 22, 2025 at 7:14 pmWe did the tour yesterday, my partner and I, and we loved it! The itinerary was exactly as described. Our guide, Xavier, was very knowledgeable about the region and the local wine industry. From beginning to end, he shared engaging insights and offered excellent tips on places to visit and experiences to try in the area. The experience was well worth it! We tasted nine excellent wines across three different wineries and were treated to beautiful views throughout the Saint-Émilion region — a real highlight of the day. Lunch was generally in line with the quality of the tour, although the main course (rice and chicken served in a plain glass container) was a bit underwhelming and didn’t meet our expectations.
