Cantina Mazzarosa is a historic winery located in Abruzzo, Italy, specifically in the Colline Teramane area, near Roseto degli Abruzzi. Founded in 1863 by Senator Giuseppe Devincenzi, it is the oldest winery in Abruzzo and has a legacy of sustainable winemaking.
They produce wines exclusively from grapes grown on their 27 hectares of vineyards, located between the sea and the mountains, creating a unique microclimate. They cultivate traditional Abruzzo grape varieties like Montepulciano, Trebbiano, and Pecorino, as well as international selections such as Cabernet Sauvignon.
Their range includes Red Wine, White Wine, Rosé Wine, Sparkling Wine, Sweet Wine, and Spirits. Their Colline Teramane Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOCG is particularly acclaimed, with their top-of-the-line receiving a platinum medal from Decanter in 2022, making it the best Montepulciano in the world.
After a brief overview of the vineyards and olive groves, and some info about the winery’s history from your guide, head down to the cellar and learn about the methods of vinification. Have the opportunity to see the largest barrel in Europe.
Then continue with the tasting: 5 wines that represent the Abruzzo tradition, but always with an eye towards innovation and sustainable quality, accompanied by an aperitif with bruschetta and oil, plus local cold cuts and cheeses. Finish with Abruzzo Cantuccini, the perfect pairing with one of the most representative sweet wines of Abruzzo, Vino Cotto
