This guided experience offers a perfect escape from the city, taking you through scenic landscapes to some of South Australia’s most captivating destinations.

The tour begins with a scenic drive through the picturesque Adelaide Hills, setting the stage for your first major stop: the charming village of Hahndorf. As Australia’s oldest surviving German settlement, Hahndorf is a living testament to its heritage. The keyword “Hahndorf” is not just a destination; it’s an experience, with its elm-lined main street and stunning 19th-century German Fachwerkhäuser (half-timbered houses). Here, you’ll have free time to explore at your own pace. Wander through the quaint streets, browse unique artisan shops, and discover galleries showcasing local art. The scent of traditional German bakeries and the sight of German-style pubs will transport you to Bavaria. Whether you choose to sip a coffee, sample some local cheese at Udder Delights, or simply soak in the atmosphere, Hahndorf offers a delightful blend of history, culture, and retail therapy.

Following your time in Hahndorf, the tour continues into the heart of the world-famous Barossa Valley. Known for its prolific wine production, this region is a paradise for connoisseurs and casual enthusiasts alike. Your journey will include visits to celebrated wineries, where you’ll be treated to guided wine tastings, allowing you to sample a curated selection of the region’s finest drops. The highlight of the Barossa portion of the tour is a delicious winery lunch, often a two-course meal, perfectly paired with local wines, providing a true taste of the region’s culinary excellence. The tour often includes a stop at Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop, giving you another opportunity to experience the Barossa’s gourmet offerings. You will also visit a couple of renowned wineries for tastings, such as Chateau Tanunda and Kies Family Wines, before heading back to the historic town of Hahndorf for a final visit.

This comprehensive day trip provides a perfect balance of guided experiences and free time, ensuring you get the most out of your visit. From the captivating German charm of Hahndorf to the sophisticated wine culture of the Barossa Valley, this tour is an unforgettable way to discover some of the best of what South Australia has to offer.

The day trip was fantastic. We had a well informed driver/guide who told us lots of history about Adelaide. The lunch at the winery was great. We visited the chocolate shop and had several wine tastings. The tour started on time and kept to schedule. It was an enjoyable day.

We had a car as there were only 4 of us on the trip. It meant we could all chat which was nice. Maggie Beer’s Farm had a nice morning tea (paid by us separately), the chocolate factory/shop only had one tiny sample (disappointing). Two wineries – one had great wine, the other not. Lunch included was nice (I had the platter). Handorf village very interesting. Not long at each place, as quite a lot of time driving. Very informative driver who told us about the area, and had some of his own stories – thank you Deep. A full day, with lots to see. Thank you!
