The caves themselves are an integral part of the experience, offering a unique setting for wine discovery. They are located right in Amboise, a town famous for its royal châteaux (like Château d’Amboise) and its connection to Leonardo da Vinci (Château du Clos Lucé).
Caves Ambacia specializes in Loire Valley wines. While they have a strong focus on Vouvray (made from Chenin Blanc, often in various styles from dry to sweet and sparkling) due to their historical connection to the Duhard family (a renowned Vouvray merchant), they also offer a selection of other Loire Valley appellations like Sancerre and Montlouis-sur-Loire.Discover the original wines and matured vintages on offer at the house Duhard, founded in 1874. Visit their 16th-century troglodyte caves facing the Loire near the historical center of Amboise and enjoy a wine tour experience in 2 parts.
First, awaken and stimulate your 5 senses and learn more about wine on the Sensorial tour. Then, travel through 150 years of wine history on the Vintages Odyssey tour of Les Caves Ambacia (formerly Les Caves Duhard) wine collection.
Follow your tour with a tasting of 3 wines with a sommelier, with an optional food and wine pairing also available. After, enjoy the delicatessen boutique and purchase wines with shipping available worldwide. Tours in English take place at 12 PM, 2 PM, and 4 PM. Tours in French take place at 11 AM, 3 PM, and 5 PM.
Don’t forget it! Our bistro welcomes you all year round, serving 100% local Loire Valley products, “From farm to table”.

Pairing food is absolutely great experience too; they also have a pleasant outdoor dining area that you could have some lovely food and drinks and platter of cheese / French sausages .

July 6, 2025 at 4:45 amWe were very well received, the tour was really interesting with explanations and a tasting. Everything was great and we stayed for lunch after chatting with the chef: fresh ingredients sourced from less than 60 km away. It was perfect.
