Unwind and indulge in a quintessential Barossa Valley experience with an immersive wine tasting and cheese platter at the iconic Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop. More than just a simple tasting, this exclusive experience is an exploration of flavor, a celebration of local produce, and a moment of pure tranquility amidst the picturesque Australian countryside. It’s a journey into the heart of the “farm to table” philosophy that Maggie Beer has championed for decades.
This farm is the spiritual and physical home of the Maggie Beer brand. It is where Maggie, one of Australia’s most beloved food personalities, created her legacy. The property is designed not just as a shop but as a destination that embodies her passion for seasonal, fresh produce and simple, honest cooking. Visitors are invited to step into this world, where the focus is on a relaxed and authentic connection to food and the beautiful Barossa landscape. The serene setting, with its glistening dam and lush surroundings, makes it clear why this location has been such a source of inspiration.
Your visit begins with a warm and personal welcome at the farm shop. Here, a knowledgeable and passionate member of the team will guide you through a tasting of the unique Pheasant Farm wine range. These wines, which have a history spanning over 40 years, are a testament to the passion of Maggie’s husband, Colin Beer, and his deep connection to the land. You will sample a carefully curated selection, from crisp Rieslings to elegant Chardonnays and powerful Shiraz, with each pour offering a story of the Barossa’s unique terroir. The interactive nature of this tasting allows you to ask questions and gain a deeper understanding of the winemaking process and the history behind each bottle.
Following the guided tasting, the indulgence continues as you are presented with a delicious cheese platter. This is not just any platter; it’s a thoughtfully curated selection of local cheeses, chosen to perfectly complement your favorite wine from the tasting. With your glass of wine and your platter in hand, you are invited to find a quiet spot overlooking the farm’s serene dam. This is where the magic happens—you can relax and savor the flavors while watching the native turtles and local birdlife. The setting, with its tranquil water views and surrounding olive groves and orchards, provides a peaceful backdrop that truly captures the essence of the Barossa.
Beyond the tasting and platter, your experience at Maggie Beer’s Farm Shop is an invitation to explore. The famous farm shop is filled with an extensive range of gourmet products, from Maggie’s renowned jams and pastes to olive oils, verjuice, and much more. It’s a paradise for food lovers, where you can browse and sample a variety of products and perhaps find a delicious souvenir to take home. For those who want to connect with nature, you can also take a leisurely stroll along the walking trails that wind around the dam, offering a perfect way to digest and appreciate the beauty of the farm. This experience is a perfect blend of exquisite flavors, stunning scenery, and genuine, heartfelt hospitality, making it a must-do for any visitor to the Barossa.

August 11, 2025 at 10:42 amWe were fortunate to book a wine tasting and cheese platter for 4 at lunchtime on a sunny Sunday. Our host was friendly and informative, the entire experience was very enjoyable. Browsing the shop afterwards means supplies for our Murray River trip and gifts to take home got sorted before we left.
